The NW quadrant of Calgary stretches from the northern limits of the city to Bow Trail, and from the western border to nearly Deerfoot Trail. There are four quadrants in Calgary. The NW quadrant is located north of the Bow River and west of Deerfoot Trail. Not only are there many residential communities in the quadrant, but it is also home to the University of Calgary, SAIT and Nose Hill Park.
The Calgary Transit Red Line LRT travels from downtown to the edge of the city, serving many NW Calgary communities. It passes through SAIT and the University of Calgary, making commutes quick for students.
NW Calgary real estate features a variety of styles and ages of houses and condos. Most homes for sale are single-family houses, but there are also many townhomes, attaches houses and condos. Kensington is a district that includes Hillhurst and Sunnyside and is a popular area for condos.

NW Calgary features
NW Calgary communities on situated on the rolling hills that rise above the Bow River Valley. Many hilltop communities overlook the beautiful Bow River and downtown Calgary. The rising foothills and mile-high Rocky Mountains help form the perfect backdrop for Calgary living.
The older NW communities are located closer to downtown. Sunnyside and Hillhurst are just across the Bow River from the city’s core, and are easily walkable to all downtown businesses and attractions. Crescent Heights is located on the bluff as it rises up from the river valley. Communities with outstanding views include Briar Hill, Rosedale and St. Andrews Heights.
Nose Hill Park in NW CalgaryIn the middle of the NW quadrant is Nose Hill Park, a large grassland nature area with pathways, trails and off-leash areas. The park is surrounded by popular communities including Edgemont, MacEwan Glen, Beddington Heights, Huntington Heights, Upper North Haven, North Haven and Charleswood.
The University of Calgary, SAIT and ACAD are all located in NW Calgary, in addition to the Foothills Hospital. Communities such as Varsity, Brentwood, University Heights and Banff Trail are popular for students and professionals working at the hospital.
With the Calgary Transit NW LRT line, commutes to downtown and to the deep south are quick and easy. Train stations are located all along Crowchild Trail, offering great transit access to communities including Tuscany, Rocky Ridge, Arbour Lake, Silver Springs and Dalhousie.
