Shawnee Slopes is a SW Calgary community besides Macleod Trail, in between Fish Creek Provincial Park and James Mckevitt Road. Communities nearby include Evergreen, Millrise and Shawnessy. On the other side of Fish Creek Park is Canyon Meadows. Shawnee Slopes real estate includes mostly single-family homes, with a few townhomes also.
Fish Creek Park is Canada’s largest urban park. It stretches from the western edge of the city to the southern edge. Many pathways and nature trails run through the park, offering endless areas for pedestrians, runners and cyclists to explore. The community is very transit friendly. Within Shawnee Slopes is the Calgary Transit Fish Creek/Lacombe LRT station. There are a few parking lots available for park-and-ride. Trains travel through downtown and go directly to both SAIT and the University of Calgary, and transfers to other trains in downtown connect transit users to the west and northeast quadrants of the city. Buses also run down James Mckevitt Road.
Not only does Shawnee Slopes have a few shopping centres, but also Macleod Trail is lined with shops, services, restaurants and entertainment. Nearby is the Shawnessy Shopping Centre, a large centre with many major retailers.
