The Calgary Transit LRT station (Lions Park station) is located in Briar Hill, and the stop is just behind North Hill Shopping Centre. On the east side, Briar Hill is bordered by 14 Street West. SAIT, ACAD and the Jubilee Auditorium are located just across 14 Street. Capitol Hill is the community just across 16 Avenue North.
Briar Hill was once referred to as Houndsfield Heights. In the late 1880’s, the family of Thomas Riley-Houndsfield settled in the area. However, most people will only refer to this community as Briar Hill.
