Eau Claire is a small neighbourhood on the tip of downtown Calgary. It is in the SW quadrant and borders the clear Bow River. Besides the river, Eau Claire is bordered by 3 Avenue South and 2 Street West. The neighbourhood contains mostly condos and apartments, and there is a mall with shops and a theatre.
Just to the south of Eau Claire is downtown and south of that is the Beltline community. Across the river is the neighbourhood of Sunnyside, which can be reached by a variety of pedestrian and bicycle bridges or by car via the 10 Street Bridge.
Driving to Eau Claire is easy from south, east and west directions. There is also excellent Calgary Transit bus and C-Train access, including LRT stations along 7 Avenue South. Eau Claire is an excellent walking community, with lots of restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood and many more nearby in downtown.
The Bow River is lined on both shores with a multi-use pathway. During all seasons, runner, walkers and cyclists travel along the pathway for exercise and leisure. Prince’s Island Park, a popular year-round island park, is just steps away and has pathways, playgrounds, gardens, skating, dining and a permanent stage.
