East Calgary is bordered by Deerfoot Trail, Memorial Drive and Barlow Trail. The Bow River Valley is situated on the western edge of the East Calgary and the city limits are on the opposite side.

Commuting into and from East Calgary is fast. Deerfoot Trail, Memorial Drive and Barlow Trail all offer fast commutes north-south and into downtown. The Calgary Transit LRT runs from downtown along Memorial Drive, until heading north on 32 Street NE.

East Calgary Features

East Calgary features communities extending from the Bow River valley to the edge of the city. Located east of Deerfoot Trail and south of Memorial Drive, South East Calgary offers excellent driving routes, easy access to downtown and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

East Calgary can best be described as diverse. The region has a residential real estate at all price ranges and types, including large single-family homes and space-efficient condos. While East Calgary has a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial zones, the residential communities feel separated and distant from the business areas.

Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail provide quick access north-south, and Glenmore Trail is an excellent east-west route. With the Calgary Transit LRT running along Memorial Drive, commuters can quickly travel to downtown, the University of Calgary and beyond.

Communities along 17 Avenue SE (also called International Avenue) are nearby a diverse range of shops, restaurants and services. These communities include Forest Lawn, Forest Heights, Albert Park and Southview.
