On the southern edge of Nose Hill Park is Charleswood, a community in the NW quadrant of Calgary. The neighbourhood is shaped like a sideways “L” with the long edge bordering Nose Hill Park. The community can easily be access off Crowchild Trail or John Laurie Boulevard, via 19 Street West, Charleswood Drive or Brisebois Drive. The community is also near great transit options. Calgary Transit serves the area with many bus routes, with all buses connecting to nearby LRT stations. Brentwood LRT station is located along Crowchild Trail and is walkable for Charleswood residents.
Charleswood real estate is mostly detached homes, many built in the 1960s. There are also a few attached houses and small-rise condos. Communities surrounding Charleswood are Brentwood to the west, Collingwood to the east and Banff Trail to the south.
Nose Hill Park, located across John Laurie Boulevard, is a large urban nature park featuring extensive grassland and forests. It covers 11 square kilometres and has many trails and pathways to explore. Also nearby Charleswood is Confederation Park, which has a public golf course, pathways, tennis courts, cross country skiing, tobogganing, picnic areas and baseball diamonds. Confederation Park winds beside a few NW Calgary communities and starts on the eastern side of Charleswood.
Not only are there shops and restaurants along Northmount Drive within Charleswood, but many major shopping centres are a short drive away along Crowchild Trail. The University of Calgary is also nearby, just across Crowchild Trail. Charleswood is part of the Triwood Community Association along with Brentwood and Collingwood.
