During the daytime, Stephen’s Avenue is a pedestrian-only stretch with vendors, shops, entertainment and dining. It is home to many of Calgary’s top restaurants. Arts Commons hosts theatre, art and music shows from local theatre companies (like Theatre Calgary and Alberta Theatre Projects) in addition to the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Calgary Opera. The Glenbow Museum has art and historical galleries open to the public.

Condos for sale in Downtown Calgary are mostly in high-rise buildings. Popular properties in the commercial core include Five West on 5 Avenue, Rocky Mountain Court on 6 Avenue. In the East Village, condo complexes include Evolution on 6 Avenue, First and The Riverfront on Riverfront Avenue, and Orange Lofts and River Twin on 8 Avenue. Popular West End buildings include Barclay at Riverwest, Discovery Pointe, Riverwest and The Marquis on 6 Avenue.
