Mahogany is located south of Stoney Trail, in between 52 Street East and 88 Street East. This modern community features homes and condos in many styles, including both attached houses and estates. Other communities nearby are Copperfield, McKenzie Towne, Auburn Bay and Seton (which is home to the South Health Campus, major shopping centres and other businesses).
There are a few communities in Calgary that have lakes, such as Lake Bonavista and Sundance. Mahogany is one of the newest lake communities. The community has a large lake on the western side of the community and on the eastern side is a wetland.
