The neighbourhood was developed by Carma Developments. This community was Carma’s first “wired” community. New Brighton real estate includes a mixture of housing types, from detached and attached houses to condos. Nearby communities include McKenzie Towne, Copperfield, Auburn Bay and Mahogany.

There is a Calgary Transit bus route that travels through the community and goes to the Somerset/Bridlewood LRT station. Trains depart from the station and go to downtown and beyond.
