South Calgary Features

The view from 37 Street West and Highway 22X. SW Calgary communities in the south include Silverado, Somerset and Bridlewood.
South Calgary features communities running along both sides of Macleod Trail. This region has lots of shopping and dining options (including two major malls) and swift public transit to downtown and the University of Calgary with Calgary Transit’s Red Line LRT. Many communities surround lakes and Fish Creek Provincial Park is home to nature trails and pathways.
South Calgary are popular communities because they are near shopping, parks, transit and major roadways for access to downtown and beyond.
There are a bunch of lake communities in South Calgary, including Lake Bonavista and Midnapore. Fish Creek Provincial Park runs through South Calgary and many neighbourhoods back right onto the large natural area. These communities – including Woodbine, Woodlands, Evergreen, Parkland and Deer Run – have pathways connecting the neighbourhoods directly into the park.
Newer communities along the southern side of South Calgary feature modern homes for all budgets. Walden, Legacy and Belmont are some of Calgary’s newest neighbourhoods.
South Calgary is home to two major malls: Chinook Centre and South Centre. The Calgary Transit Red Line LRT runs down Macleod Trail and connects directly to downtown and the University of Calgary.
