Acadia is a large SE community that stretches from Macleod Trail to the Bow River, in between Heritage Drive and Southland Drive. The neighbourhood was established in 1960 and is home to many schools, parks, shopping plazas and a recreation centre. Macleod Trail is the main road from downtown to the city’s deep south. As it travels south, it passes near the SE community of Acadia. On the northern border of the community is Heritage Drive, and Southland Drive is on the southern edge. Acadia goes all the way from Macleod Trail to the Bow River.
Acadia was established in 1960 and is a diverse neighbourhood. There are many schools, parks and shopping centres, and Acadia real estate is a broad mixture of housing. Both single-family houses and condos can be found in Acadia. Nearby communities are Fairview (to the north), Willow Park and Maple Ridge (to the south) and Haysboro (across Macleod Trail).
There are schools for all ages in Acadia, including Acadia Elementary, David Thompson Junior High and Lord Beaverbrook High School. The Acadia Aquatic and Fitness Centre is located in the community. It has a pool, weight room and multi-purpose room.
Acadia is easy to access from all sides, including via Macleod Trail and Deerfoot Trail. There are a variety of Calgary Transit bus routes that go through the community, with many buses connecting to LRT station along Macleod Trail.
