Braeside is a community in the SW quadrant of Calgary. It is a quiet residential neighbourhood in between the Glenmore Reservoir and Fish Creek Provincial Park, located west of 14 Street West. In between Southland Drive and Anderson Road just west of 14 Street West is the community of Braeside. It is located directly south of the Southland Leisure Centre. Braeside is a residential community with single-family homes and a few condominiums. Its quiet pace and easy access to recreation and amenities make it a popular neighbourhood for families and seniors.
Braeside is surrounded by similar residential communities. To the north is Palliser and Pump Hill, to the east is Southwood, to the south is Woodlands and Woodbine, and to the west is Cedarbrae. Beyond Cedarbrae is the Tsuu T’ina first nation reserve.
Inside the community is a school, Braeside School. There is also an active community association that has events, activities and programs for all ages, including a childcare program. The Chinook Musical Society hosts concerts featuring a variety of bands at the community centre.
Braeside is nearby the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, and just beyond that is Fish Creek Provincial Park. Fish Creek Park is Canada’s largest urban park and runs on both sides of Fish Creek. With trails, pathways, swimming and many scenic viewpoints, Fish Creek Park is a nature retreat right within the city.
There are two Calgary Transit LRT stations nearby – Anderson Station and Canyon Meadows/Lacombe Station. Trains regularly depart for the northwest, stopping at downtown, SAIT and the University of Calgary.
