Deer Ridge is a neighbourhood in SE Calgary that is just south of Canyon Meadows Drive, nearby Fish Creek Park. The community has a large shopping centre, school and many green areas, including a ridge that overlooks the Bow River. Bow Bottom Trail travels from Deerfoot Trail and Anderson Road south, connecting into Fish Creek Provincial Park. Deer Ridge is on the eastern side of Bow Bottom Trail, just south of Canyon Meadows Drive (which connects to Macleod Trail). These main roads offer easy access into and out of the community. In addition, a few Calgary Transit bus routes travel through the community and stop at the Canyon Meadows LRT station.
Deer Ridge real estate is mostly detached houses, with most built in the 1980s. There are also a few condo complexes of attached homes. Deer Ridge sits on a hill that overlooks the Bow River and Fish Creek Park, and down the ridge is the community of Deer Run. Across Canyon Meadows Drive is Queensland (a slightly older community) and Parkland is across Bow Bottom Trail.
Pathways for pedestrians, runners and cyclists weave throughout the community. They connect to Fish Creek Park, where trails travel from to the western edge of the city.
In the northwest corner of the community is a large shopping centre, with grocery, services and restaurants. Deer Ridge is home to Don Bosco Elementary and Junior High and nearby is Wilma Hansen Junior High. The community association runs regular events, programming, courses and a community garden.
