Deer Run is a neighbourhood in SE Calgary, located at the end of Bow Bottom Trail. It is surrounded on the southern and eastern edges by Fish Creek Park, right near where Fish Creek enters the Bow River. To the north of the neighbourhood is Deer Ridge and across Bow Bottom Trail is Parkland.
Bow Bottom Trail connects directly to Deerfoot Trail, and from there commutes to the south and north (including downtown) are fast. Canyon Meadows Drive is located on the northern edge of Deer Run and travels to Macleod Trail. Calgary Transit runs a bus route through the community that connects to the Canyon Meadows LRT station.
Homes in the neighbourhood were built in the 1980s. Deer Run real estate is mostly single-family homes, and there are also a few attached townhomes in the community. Many properties have large lots and house designs that are great for families. Pathways run throughout the community and connect to schools, shopping and endless parks.
Many Deer Run homes back right onto Fish Creek Park, Canada’s largest urban park. The park has pathways and nature trails that are perfect for runners, walkers and cyclists. Fish Creek Park also has picnic sites, off-leash areas and swimming.
Deer Run School is located in the community and is within walking distance of every home. There are shops and restaurants nearby, with a major centre located at Bow Bottom Trail and Canyon Meadows Drive. The Deer Run Community Association has events, music festivals, summer camps and more for Deer Run residents.
