Macleod Trail travels from downtown to Calgary’s southern tip and is lined with shopping, dining and services the entire way. Fairview is a community that is located along Macleod Trail, just south of Glenmore Trail. It has excellent access into and beyond downtown, and has many shops and schools in walking distance.
Fairview extends from Macleod Trail to Blackfoot Trail, with Fairmont Drive bisecting the community. There are businesses and stores located on the northwestern side of the community along Flint Road and Fisher Road, and the rest of the community features homes on quiet streets. Fairview real estate has a variety of houses and townhouses, including mostly bungalows built in the 1960s.
The communities nearby Fairview are Acadia and Kingsland (across Macleod Trail). To the east of the community is Deerfoot Meadows, a large shopping district with many major retailers and Calgary’s IKEA store.
Within Fairview are a range of parks and playgrounds, and Fairview School is located in the neighbourhood. The Fairview Community Association has regular events and programming for Fairview residents. There is also an indoor skating arena located in the middle of the community.
Fairview is located within walking distance of the Heritage LRT station, which is along the Red LRT line. Calgary Transit runs trains to both the south and north from the station, connecting to the far corners of the city in addition to downtown.
