The SW neighbourhood of Silverado was established in 2005. It is located south of Highway 22X and west of Macleod Trail. The community is accessed via 6 Street West, which turns into Sheriff King Street. To the north of Silverado are the communities of Somerset and Bridlewood. To the south is the community of Belmont.
Silverado real estate includes a variety of detached houses that range in style and size, in addition to a few townhome complexes.
Silverado is adjacent to Spruce Meadows, a world-class equestrian facility. Spruce Meadows hosts many horse jumping shows throughout the summer. From amateurs to professionals, Spruce Meadows is a top location in the world for equestrian competitions.
The community has a large shopping centre on the southern edge. From restaurants to banks to grocery stores, the centre has all important amenities. The Shawnessy Shopping Centre is nearby, offering even more shopping choices.
Calgary Transit serves the community with a few bus routes that connect to the Somerset/Bridlewood LRT station. Trains travel through downtown and go directly to a few post-secondary campuses, including SAIT and the University of Calgary.
Silverado has a dense network of pathways, connecting roads and cul-de-sacs and greenspaces. There are athletic fields for soccer and baseball, and there are a few ponds in Silverado. The community greenspaces and pathways are overseen by a residents’ association. There is also an active community association in Silverado that hosts events, movies, athletic events and has a community garden.
