Fort Calgary was first established along the banks of the Elbow and Bow rivers over a hundred years ago. That historic sight is now home to the Fort Calgary interpretive centre, located in the community of Downtown East Village. The neighbourhood is bounded on the north by the Bow River, on the east by the Elbow River, and 9 Avenue SE on the south and 3 Street SE on the west.
