The neighbourhood is located near the intersection of 16 Avenue North (Trans-Canada Highway) and Stoney Trail, south of the Bow River. There are also public transit options from Calgary Transit, with the 407 bus route running through the neighbourhood.
The community itself is a peaceful retreat, right within the city. It is near the Bow River, the biggest river in Calgary. There are a few big parks nearby, including Bowness Park. With skating, boat house, playgrounds, shelters, swimming, firepits and a spray park, Bowness Park is fun for all ages and in all seasons.
Greenwood/Greenbriar is close to a variety of shopping options. From Westhills and Signal Hill down Sarcee Trail to many shops and services along 16 Avenue North, there is no shortage of nearby amenities.
Across 16 Avenue North is Winsport, a world renowned winter sport facility. Formerly called Canada Olympic Park for the 1988 Winter Olympics, Winsport now offers skiing, snowboarding, luge, bobsled and ski jumping. There are also activities for the summer, including mountain biking.
