Mission is a small SW Calgary neighbourhood bounded between 17 Avenue South, 4 Street West and the Elbow River. The community is in walking distance to downtown, the Stampede grounds, and many shops, restaurants and nightlife along 4 Street West and 17 Avenue South. Communities nearby Mission include Cliff Bungalow, Erlton, Roxboro, Rideau Park and the Beltline.

The community has a unique history. Mission was once a Catholic mission, founded on French culture and language. When Calgary annexed the land in 1907, the French street names were turned into English.

The Calgary pathway network winds through the community and along the Elbow River. 17 Avenue South and 4 Street West meet up wth Macleod Trail, a major north-south route that connects to downtown. Calgary Transit runs a variety of buses up and down 4 Street West, and the Erlton/Stampede LRT station is nearby.
