West Hillhurst is a NW Calgary community directly beside the Bow River and south of 9 Avenue North. It is on both sides of Crowchild Trail, in between around 18 Street West and 28 Street West. Hillhurst, a community with similar housing styles and options, is directly to the east. Briar Hill is north of West Hillhurst on the escarpement and Parkdale and St. Andrews Heights are to the west.
Although West Hillhurst was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1907, significant development did not happen until after World War II. The community now still has some original houses, but many lots have been redeveloped into modern homes, duplexes and townhomes. With its close proximity to downtown and the Kensington shopping and dinning district, West Hillhurst real estate is popular with both young and old Calgarians.
The neighbourhood is nearby two Calgary Transit LRT stations (Lions Park and Sunnyside stations) and there are many bus routes that service the community and surrounding areas. The Bow River pathway offers pedestrians, runners and cyclists with a fast trek toward downtown or to the edges of the city.

Kensington is not only attracts residents from West Hillhurst and Hillhurst, but Calgarians from across the city for its trendy atmosphere.
